Still Seeking

I am an everyday journal-er. It’s one of those things that helps me be a better and far more understandable version of myself. I wrote this yesterday and I would love to share it with you. Happy Friday friend.

I have never been so distracted from You. I am moving from one thing to the next all the while oblivious. It’s like I can’t stop myself or gain control again. Where have my days of stillness gone? Where is my rest and quiet dwelling? I am on a roller coaster that I can’t exit. Now is when I must be still; quiet enough to hear your voice. But my stillness cannot be found amidst the distractions.

You cannot always be still just as the trees must give way to the wind which robs them of their idleness. But whether still or caught up in a great wind, their roots never lose their place. It might be that they hold even tighter and dig even deeper. That way, when stillness can be welcomed again, it’s rest will be all encompassing. It is when we exit our greatest tension that we experience our greatest peace. Contrast allows the physical senses to compare but our hearts must also understand this nuance beyond our very muscles and well into the crevices of our souls.
